There are 3 major International airports in Ireland. Dublin, Shannon, Belfast. All the rest are small to medium sized regional airports which cannot handle transatlantic aircraft.

The nearest transatlantic International airport to Killarney is Shannon.

Flying in from the US you'll more than likely be landing in Shannon or Dublin as Cork which is only 1 hour from Killarney doesn't take inbound flights from the US so try and get a flight into Shannon which is a lot nearer to Killarney as the previous post mentioned Dublin is 4 hours away and Shannon is only an hour from Killarney.

Cork airport is about an hour from Killarney, and Shannon airport about 2 hours

Check and see if your flight can land at Cork. If not, then Shannon is the one you should choose. It is the more major of the two. Dublin airport is about 4 hours away.

Kerry international airport. Its about 15 miles from Killarney in Faranfore. Ryanair fly from there to Alicante , Dublin , Dusseldorf, Faro , Frankfurt - Hann , London Luton , London Stansted. Aer Arann fly from Kerry to Manchester. Also there is Shannon International airport or Cork international airport both of near equal distance from Killarney.

Depends where you are flying from. Kerry airport is about 20 mins drive from killarney, but is a small airport, if your arriving from the US shannon airport is probably the closest.

Your quesiton is posted on Y!A United States but I'm not sure if you mean you are flying from the United States? Many people use Y!A.com who are not living in America including many of our own regular contributors on the Ireland site

The nearest "major" airport would be Cork, it's about 90km away http://www.corkairport.com/index.asp But as far as I know it doesn't have flights to or from the States.

I'm pretty sure that Dublin International is the only major airport in Ireland. You'll need to fly into Dublin and take a puddle jumper to Shannon, Galway, or Cork.

We have an office in Westport so I'm pretty familiar with traveling to Ireland.
