I would like to trek during the day and stay in small villages at Inns by night. Anyone know a good starting point and route to walk Ireland?

Dingle Peninsula - stay in Cloghane - a beautiful small village underneath Mount Brandon. Micheal's (pronounced mee-hawl's) pub and B&B in the village is a favorite for walkers

Ring of Kerry or Dingle is a good option.

But also Doolin and the surrounding Co Clare is a wonderful place to walk and has small villages...and Galway is just a small city too which is one of my favorites.

Of course inland ways are great too... or Donegal with its even more rugged coast...

Check out the west coast and don't skip the Dingle Peninsula. It is wonderful and not as crowded as the Ring of Kerry (which is also scenic, but more crowded with tourists). Don't be afraid of the small bed & breakfasts - the people are so welcoming.
